All in all the Snickerdoodle is pretty amazing!! I mean you get that nice soft middle with just a HINT of cinnamon sugar on top.. YUMMY!! Unfortunately for me, I tend to forget about the darn Snicker D.. but not this Christmas!!!
No Sir-ee, so here's my fave recipe for the doodle..
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 tspp vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tblsp white sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Combine 1 1/2 cups white sugar, butter or margarine, vanilla and eggs. Mix well.
- Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Blend well.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
- Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
- Roll dough in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
- Remove cookies right awaycookie sheets.
For a little something different, add butterscotch chips, or crystalized ginger... the options are endless.
